A month before, the Teatre nightclub notified local authorities that they were going to repaint their facade. The Murcia City council had said that it was supposed to be closed. These leisure facilities, in which 13 people were burned to death by fire at the end 2022, would have had to be sealed. The City Council dismissed inspectors responsible.
According to the Teatre nightclub and La Fonda, they were in compliance with all permits but the clubs burned in the fire.
City Council version is quite different. The closure of two nightclubs in January 2022 was ordered and ratified by the City Council after dismissing the allegations made by the Company. The municipal inspection service was asked to confirm the cessation and, if needed, seal the nightclubs in October 2022. This never occurred.

The health inspection was also scheduled for March 2023.
