Jack Troth was chased by angry mobs after he created trouble at a bar

After a roofer started a party in a pub, angry mobs chased him through the streets of Weston-super-Mare.

After assaulting two police officers, he made racial remarks at a station.

Jack Troth, who had punched and shoved people in the Weston-super-Mare sports bar before being expelled from it, caused chaos.

Troth, 26, from Albert Road, Evesham, admitted to assault, two assaults on an emergency worker, and racial harassment. Michael Cullum, the judge who sentenced Troth to 93-weeks in prison. Troth was told: “Your path of mayhem had many faces and never stopped.”

Robert Yates, the prosecutor said that Troth had punched an employee of the door when they tried to handcuff Troth after he left the bar.

Troth pushed, shoved and punched people, including an unknown stranger who was eating chips.

Troth spat and assaulted two officers who arrived at the scene. At Bridgwater Police Station, he was taken into custody and arrested.

Troth had been convicted of assaulting a police officer and harassing him racially. He urinated in his cell under the door and when an officer came to deal with this, Mr Yates said, she was called a slut.

Charlotte Evans, attorney for the defendant, said in court: “This was an absurd and irrational incident, fuelled by alcohol.”

After a “friendly” interaction in the bar descended into violence, she admitted that her client had used unprovoked violent after a first, “friendly interplay”.

Troth acknowledged in court that his actions towards the door staff was unnecessary. After the incident, he said that he was ‘cornered by people who followed me’.

Miss Evans stated: “He was horrified by his behavior after seeing the CCTV. A man was assaulted in the street. As he ran, he found himself surrounded by at least 20 people. He has very few memories of the night.

He doesn’t hate other races. He can’t explain it. She said that her client had intended to upset the officer by racial insults.

Troth works for himself as a roofing contractor and as a landscaper. According to the court, he has also taken on parental responsibility and stopped drinking.

According to Miss Evans “he spent the past 10 months knowing that he could’ve thrown everything away.” One mistake could lead to massive consequences.
