SEOUL, 22 August (Reuters) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un lashes out against top officials over their “irresponsible” response to flood damage. Kim Jong Un claims that the officials “ruined” national economy.

Kim inspected a tidal land on the West coast Monday. The news agency KCNA reported that seawater destroyed a retaining wall with an inadequate drainage system recently, inundating more than 560 hectares. This included over 270 hectares for rice paddies.

Kim Tok Hun’s premiership was singled-out by Kim, who criticized officials for “very reckless” negligence of duty. Kim Tok Hun visited the destroyed sites once or two times “with an onlooker attitude”.

He said… that the Kim Tok Hun Government’s administration and economy has gotten worse in recent times, and as a consequence, those who are idle spoil the entire state economic effort with an irresponsible manner of working,” KCNA wrote in an English language dispatch.

Kim said that such irresponsibility, and lack discipline among officials are “mainly attributed to the feeble working attitude and the incorrect view of premier of the cabinet”, he added.

North Korean leaders have been inspecting flood-hit farms for several weeks now, as they grow increasingly concerned about the food crisis that is threatening the reclusive nation.
