A wave of criminal acts has plunged the Sargento Cabral neighborhood of the city of Santa Fe into anxiety, with neighbors reporting between two and three robberies a day in private homes and on public roads.
Residents in the aforementioned neighborhood contacted the El Litoral editorial team and stated that the most critical area is the one delimited by Salvador del Carril, J. M. Zuviria, Derqui, Ruperto Godoy and Necochea streets.
In their defense, several of the victims pointed out that criminals use the roofs as an access route to the homes. Among those affected is a photographer who has his home in Ruperto Godoy, who a few days ago had his belongings stolen.
The criminal escalation was evidenced after a series of events, including a violent “entry” into a home in Alvear, between Derqui and Ruperto Godoy, to the forcing of bars in Necochea and Huergo. Even a betting agency in Huergo and Necochea was robbed over the weekend.
The neighbors’ concern intensifies when they point out the absence of effective patrols by the 5th Police Station, responsible for the jurisdiction. Those interviewed denounce the lack of action on the part of the police, who argue that they cannot intervene, urging those affected to collect data.
This frustration is aggravated by showing footage of the incidents to the authorities, without positive results. “It’s a shame,” say the neighbors, who are considering holding a demonstration in front of the aforementioned police headquarters in the coming days. “It is the only option we have left to make our situation visible,” they said.
In addition to the robberies in private homes and businesses, neighbors pointed out the danger that lurks in the streets. To do this, they recalled the case of the two volleyball player girls who were assaulted on a public street, near the Villa Dora club.
“The criminals walk the streets as if nothing had happened and we are prisoners in our own homes. We cannot continue like this,” they said.
