New spires are made from oak trees that were up to 18m in length and felled during the winters of 2021-22. The beams will be shaped differently after ten years of drying.
Wooden structure
Philippe Jost is Georgelin’s successor and he aims to finish the complex wooden structure that supports the roofs of the naves and choirs by the spring. By the Paris Olympics, which will take place in July/August next year the metal roof of the nave and choir should be completed.
